h u m a n s - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We all know what these are, right? They have no supernatural talents what-so-ever. However, they are notorious for their sense of self-preservation. Each human being is driven by the will to survive from the beginning. Sometimes this changes over time, but all it takes is one near-death experience - like stumbling upon a haunted hotel, perhaps? - to change this back. They may not have.. super-strength or.. super speed, but they have the drive and the intelligence to overcome any obstacle. Besides, which sounds cooler: "Oh, I killed a bunch of humans in this one hotel the other day.." or "I checked into this hotel full of monsters that I thought I'd never get out of... and I survived."? It's an opinion question, there's no real right or wrong answer, but if you said the first one... YOU FAIL. Just kidding. But seriously, don't underestimate humans.
v a m p i r e s - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Before you guys get all, "Oh God, get those sparkling gary-stews away from me!," hear this out. Here on HC, vampires do not sparkle. Matter of fact, if you sparkle, we will delete your account. (Not really, but we would prefer it if you didn't.) No, our vampires have a real reason for staying out of the sunlight. And no, they don't burst into flame. Their eyes are adjusted so that they can see well at night. So adjusted that sunlight seems ten times brighter to them. Vampires can go blind from being out in the sun too long. So, to preserve their eyes, they got out only at night. All of their senses are finely tuned, and they can hear things from miles away. They are super strong and fast, and their brains can process things ten times faster than humans. Sorry kiddies, but vampires don't have extra sensory perception. Or any kind of "special talent," really. One more thing : they smell like death and decay, not some flowery crap. To the normal human senses, it smells like regular BO. To a fellow vampire, it smells like rotting meat.
w e r e w o l v e s - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Let's face it. If these guys could only change once a month, it would be so dang boring. However, letting them change whenever they want gives your wolf way too much range. To make it fair, we'll say they change every night, regardless of the fullness of the moon. There is one thing I want to make very clear : Werewovles in their wolf state don't have a single trace of humanity left. They don't give a crap who they're killing, they'll tear apart anyone in their path. In their wolf state, they cannot identify friend from foe, and they don't care who their friends and foes are. Their main goal is to fill their empty stomachs. The wolf digestion system works three times as quickly as the human one, so most meat is completely digested and gone in about an hour. However, anything that is not disposed of before sunrise is still there when the human half regains control. That can lead to some serious stomach problems. In the wolf state, the body's sense of smell is increased tenfold. They can pick up on the stench of vampires, and use that to avoid them. The body is also stronger and faster. The drawback is that the human half is your average Joe Shmo, no more super-strength. And just so you know, the transformation is painful.
g h o s t s - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Yes, we're talking about human spirits with unfinished business. They are preserved in the form of an image, which is the first phase. New ghosts are like a faded picture of the person they used to be, barely visible to the human eye. All they can do is float around wailing, flickering in and out of visibility. Ghosts that have been around for a few weeks start to gain more substance. They stop passing through every wall they hit, and are able to manipulate solid objects, such as picking up a chair and hurling it at the wall. After a ghost has been around for a year, that's when they get the cool powers. It is around that time that a ghost is able to project their own thoughts into the minds of humans. They can project their feelings of pain and suffering, horrific images, and mimicries of any voice they've heard in the past. For example, a ghost that is at least a year old can make a person see themselves gushing blood from the head in the mirror, when in reality, they are perfectly safe. Ancient, ancient ghosts - ones that have been around for at least a hundred years - can change physical objects. They can turn a door into a wall of solid bricks. They can flood a room with ice cold water. The one limitation put on ghosts is that they cannot touch humans. They could strangle a person with their sheets, but it's usually more enjoyable to watch a person go so crazy, they off themselves.
